Woodturning an Aztec Diamond Bowl
We found a lot of Aztec designs with triangles, diamonds, chevrons, etc. So, we gave it some thought and this is the design we came up with for the feature ring. This bowl was made from walnut, maple, redheart, purpleheart and yellowheart. Thanks for watching! Bernie & Dan

Woodturning Walnut with the Binford 2000!

On this project, the figured walnut had some definite endgrain issues, hence the angle-grinder (Binford 2000, ha!). Actually, it helped a lot to tame it so that I could go at it later with normal sandpaper. This turned out smaller than I had originally planned due to very thick bark and a couple of endgrain cavities. All in all, I'm pleased with the project and it turned out well. I love walnut...

Katalox (pronounced ka-ta-lush) is a very dense tropical wood. It's about 3660 on the Janka Hardness Scale. But, I am pleasantly surprised at how well is turns for a dense wood. Hi Jeff, thank you for watching. I used to get those brass inserts and gaskets from Walnut to Antlers, but that gentleman passed away. I now get my inserts from Carl Jacobson. He has a RUclips channel.

Okay I don't have words... you already had the object in mind and knew how to make it simply from planks whereas I couldn't figure out where it was getting at even if the video's thumbnail already showed me the final result, and this is already admirable. I suppose it could be if you had the right target audience. You will have to consider your supplies and your time. This project took about 4 hours. What is 4 hours of your time worth?

That’s an amazing bowl. Are you using the Rockler miter sled as it came out of the box or did you have to tweak it for accuracy?
Hi Jeff, thanks for watching. You most definitely need to customize that sled to your table saw. But, it's very easy. The biggest challenge you would have is if the tabletop on your saw is not exactly parrallel with the actual blade of the saw.
